3K at NYC Schools

In New York City, you can apply to 3-K in the calendar year that your child turns three.

The 3-K application period for the 2026-27 school year will open on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 and close on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Applications can be submitted online with MySchools, by phone 718-935-2009 or in person at the District 13 Family Welcome Center located at 415 89th Street in Bay Ridge.

Initial offers are made by NYC Public Schools and not PS20.

We offer three (3) full-day 3K classes for a total of 45 seats.
Each 3K classroom has a maximum capacity of 15 students with a lead instructor and a paraprofessional “co-teacher”.

Offers to PS20 are made by NYC Public Schools (not PS20) based upon a child’s position on the priority list below:

  1. Zoned children with a sibling at PS20

  2. All other zoned children

  3. Children who live in District 13 with a sibling at PS20

  4. Children who live outside of District 13 who have a sibling at PS20

  5. All other children living in District 13

  6. All other children who live outside the district

NOTE: We are a participant in the Diversity in Admissions initiative that sets aside 40% of the seats for low-income families or those in temporary housing.
